Plesiosaur
(The Pacific blue plesiosaur)
This Pacific blue plesiosaur photo is a thousand per cent
better than some of the monster photos we have shown on
DinosaurCam (particularly the clumsy photo of an alleged extinct mammoth). The plesiosaur in
this photo has form, movement, depth, and a rounded body with a
pattern on it. In fact, this is almost the perfect fake
dinosaur-type photo.
Almost …
It doesn't suffer from any of the major giveaways of many of
the other hoax photos we have shown on DinosaurCam — such
as bad shadows, bad perspective, unnatural lighting, a
“toy” look, or a jazzed-up clip-art look.
Its underwater setting covers up many of its problems. However,
some of its flippers, or paddles, are a little too pointed for a
medium-distance underwater shot, as is its pointed tail. Compare
these with the much more fuzzy points of the other creature's
tail. Sharp points just don't look sharp when you look at them at
a distance underwater.
And, like the photograph of the tourist posing at the World Trade Center
while a plane was about to fly into him, don't you think the
photographer would have been excited enough to tell his friend
about the plesiosaur swimming around them?
Nevertheless, this is an excellent fake.
